As an older brother, its my responsibility to keep my younger sister out of too much trouble. That???s why, when she told me that she was to become a bartender at one of the local clubs, I wasn???t too happy about it.? The thought of my sister associating herself with the classless lowlifes who frequent that place on an almost daily basis simply didn???t sit well with me.

On her first night on the job, I decided to take a step down from my pedestal and provide some moral, and possibly tactical support. I met with the bouncers, the manager, and chatted with several of her co-workers before my sister even realized I was on the premises.

She seemed pleased that I had come out to show my support, but I didn???t want to be cramping her tip making potential by staring down every guy she spoke to, so I took a seat at one of the other bars and kept on eye on things from afar. There, I had a chance to meet another one of her co-workers, a fellow bartender lets call Juli.

I introduced myself and effortlessly struck up a conversation with her. She kept the drinks flowing, with very little expense to me.? That, coupled with her friendly and flirtatious attitude, kept me squarely seated at her bar for the remainder of the night.

Having met the staff, scoped out potential escape routes, and going over some of their security procedures, I started to feel more comfortable with my sister???s new job.? Of course, for ???her safety,??? I decided it may be beneficial if I stopped by every now and then to ???check up on her.??? It also didn???t hurt that Juli happened to be smokin hot.

So every couple of nights, I’d stop in for any little reason.? Whats this? A text message from my sister saying she is hungry, guess I gotta take her some food and visit with my new favorite bartender.? Oh no! My sister forgot to wear comfortable shoes, guess I gotta go to the club and take some to her. No lipgloss? I’m on my way!

Yes, I became one of the very same “classless lowlifes who frequent that place on an almost daily basis.”? For good reason though, Juli and I soon started seeing each other more and more outside of the club. It had been more than a year and a half since THE breakup, and I finally felt comfortable enough to go out with another woman.? Little did I know what life with a bartender would have in store for me…

way to leave a cliff-hanger! BUT good for you! Progress is something, I can’t wait to be where you are now.

    :)

I was touched by the initial agenda about being a supportive/protective big brother. I wish my brother were like that. ;p

It just shows doing your job as a brother has it perks.

And I can’t wait to see what life with a bartender had in store for you.

  4. Oooo interesting…What a cliffhanger. Ah, that’s just like you, always leaving your readers wanting more. Well, it works, I’m sold.

You’re such a sweet big brother. I’m sure your sister probably hates you at times for being overprotective of her but I know it means a lot to her. My brother, though he’s younger than me is overprotective too. He has to have a talk with every single guy who decides to court me. Whenever I’d step out of the house he’d always check to make sure why skirt wasn’t too short, he was like a big brother despite me being 2 years older than me. Now that he’s back in California I really do miss his annoying, overprotective ways.

Very nicely written. I am interested now!I can only imagine what life with a bartender would bring (free peanuts and beer). I hope it turned out well…but if you are writing this and leaving us with a built-up expectation of a continuation of “good” then there is bound to be a twist!

@Jessica Continuing my progress is key at this point.

@Ella Yea, being a big bro does come with some good perks!

@Scoman Stay tuned, more to come.

@ChinkyGirLMeL Leaving you wanting more is just my way. :)

@Justin Free peanuts and beer galore! A twist huh? Perhaps…

@Unbreakable I find myself being too judgmental of people & places sometimes. I’ve been working on that and been surprised by the results.
