I’ve recently been featured as “February Star #2″ over at ScoMan’s blog, go check out my guest post! Also, be sure to subscribe to this interesting blogger from down under!
Thanksgiving, it’s the time of year where American families come together to celebrate everything they are “thankful” for. ? The cook of the family wakes up extra early to begin? preparations, the men are off from work and enjoy their holiday by watching football and drinking a beer or two, the kids sleep in late and are eventually awakened by the delicious smell of food. The climax of this holiday begins at the dinner table.
Friends, immediately family, and distant relatives all sit at the massive table and eagerly await the presentation of the main course. A giant turkey is brought forth, while the onlookers applaud and loudly comment to themselves. The head of the table begins the gluttonous feast by sharing a few words and carving the turkey.? Laughter, smiles, the clanking of dinnerware, and idle conversations fill the house for the next few hours. More »

Having finally reached our destination after a two and a half hour drive, I was eager to check into the hotel and begin my first anime convention experience.? Once the paperwork had been taken care of, we made our way up to our room and changed into our costumes. I chose to dress as a very well known and much beloved character, “Cris Redfield” from a series of extremely popular video games. Once changed, we headed out towards the convention hall and made sure to take pictures and chat with every good looking costumed attendee along the way.
Upon walking inside the main banquette hall, I immediately heard a female voice shout my character’s name. “Cris! Cris Redfield!”? Quickly looking around, I finally spotted a slender young lady rushing towards me wearing a costume I easily recognized, a character known simply as “Chi.” More »

A few weeks ago, I attended a Japanese & Anime convention. Having spent my entire Saturday afternoon walking around dressed as a SWAT team type character, I was tired, and thus? I retired to my hotel room, which I shared with a good female friend who had agreed to come with me. Two queen sized beds took up the majority of the room, with a large empty space between the tv and beds filled by a cow hide rug on the floor. This is where my latest encounter begins… More »
I had always wondered what it was that motivated people to dress up as their favorite fictional characters and attend these large conventions with others in costume. I never quite understood it until 19 May, 2005.
The release of the final Star Wars movie was an event every Star Wars fan around the globe was waiting for. Despite what fans may have thought of Episodes I & II, we were excited! ? My friends and I had bought our tickets well in advanced and were prepared to make this one midnight screening we wouldn’t soon forget!
Hours before the movie premier, a large crowd had already gathered and the line extended well beyond the indoor lobby into the hot afternoon sun outside. You could feel the excitement and the energy radiating from the crowd as the anticipation for this epic movie heightened and its climax grew nearer. More »
Make no mistake, ? I can be a pretty self-centered guy at times, and I absolutely love it when people praise and worship me. Who doesn’t?!? Some might say I am a typical? Leo, while others just believe I’m a naturally flamboyant, self-absorbed guy.
This flamboyancy can be seen in everything I do, from the way I dress when I actually feel like looking great, to my martial arts style. There is never a NEED for flashy techniques, but I just can’t help myself sometimes! Even on the job, I do my best work with an audience present or when multiple people are counting on me, that’s just how I roll.
So imagine the enormous ego stroke I received while making my way through my Google Reader feeds and I discovered this blog post at ChinkyMel’s Corner. Thank you for making this lion purr, stroking my ego, and keeping me entertained with your wonderful blog these past few months!
On another note, expect the next installment of “Middle School Business” sometime later this week, along with details on an upcoming guest post I’m writing for a more ‘female oriented’ blog.
