The Art of Fighting

August 28th, 2008 | Category: Martial Arts, Personal

At this point in time, everyone should be at least vaguely familiar with the term ‘Martial Arts’.   American media, Hong Kong cinema, and Japanese anime/mangas have all done a great job of introducing the flashiness of martial arts to the world.  Simply hearing this term probably conjures up some sort of Bruce Lee inspired mental picture, admit it!

Martial Arts schools have been established in even the most remote corners of the world, making it widely available for anyone willing to learn.  UFC fights on cable & Pay Per View are also a rising phenomena, along with the term ‘Mixed Martial Arts’ or MMA.  With such world wide recognition, its no surprise that some people may completely misunderstand the true concept of the art.

Imports

August 26th, 2008 | Category: Other, Personal

I don’t normally write about my personal life here, for obvious reasons, but something has been on my mind lately.  Women…not just any women, but high quality women!  Do they exist?  If so, where are they, and how can I get one?

The very idea of a stereo typical American girl utterly crushes my soul.  The feminist movement used to be about woman’s equality and rights, which I encourage, but it has slowly moved into dangerous territory by encouraging certain qualities in many American females.

In the past, there were many preconceived notions as to what a woman’s role was in the house, such as cooking, cleaning, doing the laundry, and raising the kids.  On the same token, it was a man’s responsibility to provide, protect, perform maintenance, and be the disciplinarian of the household.

Women in America today are free to do as they please.  You don’t want to cook?  Fine.  You don’t want to do laundry?  Ok!  Sick of raising kids?  Drop them off at the daycare!  These things are no longer an absolute expectation of women, instead, they’ve become profitable markets in the service industry.

Free of a woman’s preconceived burdens, she is now able to properly attend college and/or enter the workforce as a productive member of society!  Kudos to you working women!

However, there is an ever rising number of females who shrug off all aspects of responsibility in pursuit of a lavish worry free lifestyle.  They seek out a man and expect him to provide, protect, and perform to her satisfaction, all without any expectations of her besides looking good.  It seems that American women now believe that simply looking “beautiful” is a contribution unto itself.

American girls are raised idolizing, and mimicking people like Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Miley Cyrus.  These modern day “barbies” are free of responsibility due to their vasts amounts of wealth and popularity, and live a lifestyle no middle class American can properly achieve, especially during our unofficial “recession.”

So what is a middle class American guy to do? Read more

It’s a Good Day to Die!

August 10th, 2008 | Category: Movies

Starship Troopers 3:Marauder, was released just a few days ago on both DVD & BlueRay.
Being the big sci-fi fan that I am, I went ahead and picked up the DVD box set which includes all three Starship Troopers films to date.

I’m sure that by now everyone is at least remotely familiar with the first film, especially if you are in any way connected to the military. I’ve heard similar stories from members of all military branches…the night you spend in a hotel before heading out to MEPs in the morning, Starship Troopers is one of the many DVDs available for you to watch. If you are having any doubts about enlisting that night, a good helping of war movies, like Starship Troopers, will pump you up enough to forget your doubts.

Starship Troopers 2:Hero of the Federation, picks up a few months after the Federation’s victory on ‘planet P’, and focuses on a small band of troopers stuck on a remote planet deep within the “Arachnid Quarantine Zone.” Among the troopers is a one star general who quickly becomes a target of the new species of bugs who seem to be able to take over a decomposing human body. This film seemed very fake, and even the props looked way below standards, which is why I don’t entirely recommend it.

Starship Troopers 3:Marauder, is a true sequel to the original! Johnny Rico is back in full force, this time as a Colonel in charge of his own ‘Mobile Infantry’ post within the “Arachnid Quarantine Zone.” I won’t ruin any of this movie, since its definitely a must watch if your a fan of the first one! The cheesy recruitment films during the movie are back, and better than ever! Truly, one of the most memorable recruitment ads is the Sky Marshal’s very own music video which I’ve embedded below for your viewing pleasure!

Warning! Watching the video may cause a strong desire to enlist into the Citizen’s Federation.

“Its a good day to die, when you know the reasons why! Citizens, we fight for what is right! A noble sacrifice, when duty calls you pay the price!”
