"Differential Diagnosis"

Fertile soil without a purpose is a wasted patch of dirt, but planting a seed in such soil ties one down with responsibilities for that seed. Sure, its easy to walk away from that responsibility and not care less if the seed flourishes, but I take personal satisfaction in cultivating, trimming, and assisting these seeds blossom.

Drug trafficking along the Mexico/US border has long been a very profitable and lucrative business.? Mexican news channels, day in day out, are constantly covering the aftermath of the war on drugs.

US Gov personnel stationed at these border towns are often prohibited from venturing into Mexico as civilians for recreational purposes, or have strict curfews and clearly defined boundaries in the country. Local law enforcement agencies often advise their officers to avoid areas near the border, even if they???re within their jurisdiction. Children of prominent Mexican businessmen constantly fear for their children???s safety and encourage them to stay on US soil.

Mexico???s president Felipe de Jes??s Calder??n Hinojosa, has pushed harder than any president before him against the drug cartels. They???re pushing back, and in many cases???the cartels are winning. Better funded, better equipped, and backed by overall fear, the drug cartels seems to have a strong foothold on Mexico and many of its government officials. More »

When we last checked in, I had just gone to bed after a restless night filled with what seemed like unlimited energy.  Some may have already formed suspicions as to what was going on with me that night, but unless something plainly smacks me in the face, it shall remain unnoticed for quite some time.

A few hours after peacefully falling asleep in my nice warm bed, my phone begins to ring.  I groggily reach over and open my eyes just enough to see who is calling.  Its that girl from the last post! ???Why is she calling me at 3:30 in the morning?" I thought to myself as I debated whether or not to answer.  My initial instinct was to answer the phone immediately, but for some reason I decided against it.  Perhaps I was slightly disappointed our movie night was cancelled, or maybe I simply wasn???t thinking straight.  Either way, the phone stopped ringing before I answered and I drifted back to sleep seconds later, without giving it a second thought.

A few weeks ago, I had plans with a new friend to bum around and catch a movie at her place. It wasn???t anything special, and truth be told, the plan was somewhat loosely made the night before.  I was actually looking forward to it, since I can be super relaxed around her without bothering to impress her.
